Official website- embarrassing.
I appreciate that this forum is no longer the 'communication channel' that it once was but I do not know of any other avenue to express my thoughts and concerns.
The clubs official website is an embarrassment. Currently the 'Last Match' is Histon v Redditch United and the 'Next Match' is Redditch United v Merthyr Town. The 'Latest News' banner tells us the Highgate game is off. What will be the next headline? ' Japan has surrendered'
I of course understand that specialist skills are needed to update/design and maintain websites. Surely there is someone out there under the age of 30 who could be given this responsibility with remote access.
At present the website represents the club in a very negative manner and the issue requires immediate attention. Basically it would be an improvement if the site were temporarily shut down.
I know that there has been a recent change in staffing but the website has been poor for some time.
We need a site that reflects positively on the club.

There is a new website but for the life of me can't understand why the old one was not shut down or a link to new site put up, they can't access the old site as the person who edited it has left. (although notice was given so this should have been sorted during the notice period)

Not strictly true as I've given out the password on 3 separate occasions, 2 of which were after I had left, last of which was last Monday.
Best of it is that it was a password that was given to me. COYR

Re: Official website- embarrassing.
For me, there is nothing wrong with the new website per se. But it is what it is. It looks like an all encompassing RUFC community website with the first team thrown in as an after thought. It just doesn't come across as 'official website' quality.
We desperately need a professional, official first team website that is complemented by this community site. I have no idea what running a website costs, but surely a more professional website would have a greater chance of attracting new sponsors, business partners, fans etc.

Speaking of websites...if you visit the official website of any professional / semi-professional football club, you can quickly and easily find your way to their 'corporate / sponsor hospitality' section. Now I'm not suggesting that we can introduce an Arsenal style club level..... but whenever I walk past, there always seems to be ample space in the directors lounge and empty seats on the directors balcony. This is space that could easily be sold to match sponsors, match-ball sponsors etc..... with little to no extra serious investment from the club.
Even if the club doesn't have the resources to actively approach potential customers (understandably so), a decent website can do the same, albeit passively.
I honestly can't recall seeing too many match-day type sponsors in recent years. This is a shame as during the last couple of seasons we have seen the team playing the best football in a decade. Previous regimes (for all of their many, many, MANY faults...) did at least seem to attract a reasonable number of match-day sponsorship.

yes sorry RockDJ that was a response given by club on Facebook regards passwords etc. del boy spot on, my brother used to sponsor a few games/ball etc. but I didn't like the corporate box idea in the lounge. A club no matter what its plans are is 1st team first and everything else follows, website is a good example and selling the main match day to sponsors and fans etc another. the same on Facebook with multi pages giving out different info rather than the same info, it's all a mish mash at the minute constantly trying to build new ideas before putting anything right.
