As it's the end of the season with niether team with anything to play for it'll probably be either 0-0 or 4-4!

For the record:

Reds 3 (Hendrie L, Deabill, Stringfellow) Small town near Poole 1. Att: 231 (and a half if my 3 yr old granddaughter turns up!)

Attendance disappointing due to weather, I reckon 253

Pitch to look like WW1 battlefield by the end of the game.

Predictions for Weymouth Empty Re: Predictions for Weymouth

Post  mattim Sun Apr 29, 2012 2:32 am

Enjoyed the game yesterday. Considering the conditions and neither side had much to play for it was quite entertaining. Don't know how we only scored 2, there were chances that were actually more difficult to miss than score.

We've had a competitive and well organized team for most of the season, especially defensively (apart from the odd disaster like against Frome) but it seems to me that the Hendrie brothers added an extra dimension of creativity which we lacked, and with that we have looked like a team capable of much better things. Will be a big, big miss next season if we don't have them.

Other observations;

Pitch nowhere near as bad as I expected. That game would have been off a few years ago. It drains so much better than it used to, there is more grass cover, but the big disappointment is how uneven the playing surface is. I wish we could get that sorted.

Great sing off in the Cedar Road second half (but it could sometimes do with moderating the language if we are to attract the family element).

Good crowd, much more than I predicted. Weymouth brought about 50 which obviously helps but with nearly 400 there (and a similar attendance for the Evesham game) an encouraging sign. I'm sure we can get more if we can be more consistent at home.

Snack bar, service slow again ! See comment above re better crowds, we are throwing money away at the moment because we don't seem able to cater for better crowds. If we were regularly getting 400 or so that place should be making loads of money but not if it's taking the whole of half time to get served (which it did).

90:00 + 3:00 Redditch Utd FC 2 v Weymouth FC 0
Full time.
WMVC singing and applauding team and cheering Manley. Very well behaved despite being adjacent to Redditch core fans.

Post Match Edit. Estimating about 50 Weymouth fans.
Must say Redditch core fans sang well and were equally well behaved.
