Now I am not sure why we need any more strikers? What we need is a decent defence and midfield to stop conceeding goals.
Strikers Now
Smith
Adaggio
Green
McKenzie
Whilding
+ a few more
I see no logic in signing more strikers, that is not the problem it is Defence and Midfield

I can see where your coming from leethall but don't forget Smith will be going in the next two weeks which would have left just Addagio and Green, What Happens if say Addagio leaves (he's already said Redditch is just a stepping stone)?. I believe Craig Wilding has been brought in to strengthen midfield but will he be welcome?, you DON'T join a rival team, score then run half way up the pitch to your old supporters and kiss your new badge (especially a Worscester Badge!).Leethall wrote:http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/news/index.php?&newsmode=FULL&nid=73003

All in all (football wise) I think a sensible move by Gards which will allow him to shuffle a few players around the pitch and hopefully fill some gaps, Will Craig Wilding win back the hearts and support of the mighty Red & White Army? Doubt it, club house should be interesting after the game tomorrow.

Re: More Players Sign
As bad as our defence is, our strike force isn't the best either.
As Jeff said, Smith could return to Droylsden soon if the loan isn't extended. Adaggio is failing to score, and Green isn't really a striker he's more attacking midfield.
We could do with a Jerry Gill type player with experience to control the back 4, but with that comes £££.

Re: More Players Sign
Desperate times calls for desperate measures and the fact that we have signed whilding underlines that fact. However if he scores the winning goal in the next few matches and lifts us out of the drop zone, will we fogive his past mistakes?. A question for Andy(fingers)how many players have we used so far this season?i've lost count, and to be honest whatever the total, you would struggle to get a decent side between them, but on a plus point,99% of the time they have all given us total commitment and effort.

Re: More Players Sign
Josh McKenzie has potential, played under Snapper at Bromsgrove but has since suffered with injuries, bad ones to his knee IIRC. If he can rediscover his form he can make an impact, impressive at Bromsgrove, and you know how hard it is for me to say that!
Wilding, comes with a professional pedigree and mentality, do I think he's well past his best? Yes, but that doesn't mean he has nothing to offer. One of those lads that came out of the pro game, it's never quite worked for him anywhere and got shifted around positions at different clubs, never really nailed one (pardon the pun ). Wilding will be one of those lads who see football as a job, a profession rather than a glorified kick about and believe me, you need that at this level, I'm sure it was you leethall who mentioned a similar point after talking to one of the West's at Evesham the other week?
As for the point of not needing scorers, Redditch have failed to win for 15 matches, 12 in the league and scored 5 goals in their last eight matches in all competitions. Other than Matt Smith the last striker to score in the league was Nathan Smith, a penalty on October 2nd against Blyth, the last league win, coincidence?
Defensively it was a horror show against Gainsborough, but that will happen from time to time, we know that; in a relegation battle you HAVE to defend from the front, as an XI, sharpening up the attack takes the pressure off a defence/midfield that is deviod of confidence.
These two might not work out, far from dead certs, but we know Matt can't go out and get proven BSBN quality, and I for one believe he's addressing the right areas.

Re: More Players Sign
Den, I'll crunch the numbers later if I get the chance...
leethall, BTW, Green is a winger.

Re: More Players Sign
We do need strikers... or a goal scorer, because as mentioned, Smith will be gone soon. I have a feeling Marco will too!
5 goals in 8 games... how many of those were scored by Smith, Fingers?
All i want them to do is try 100%... and bag a load of goals

Re: More Players Sign
3 from Smith Joe, one from Quaynor and one from Green.
Without disrespect to the lad, all these people saying Adaggio will be gone seem to have a tone that he will be missed, always has been a confidence player, gone hiding too much lately for me.

Although Adaggio is struggling for goals, I think he's one of our better players with the ball. He's strong and holds the ball up well until he can find a pass.
I think once he scores one, he'll start scoring more. Just got a feeling!
Re: More Players Sign
Yeah agree, he can create chances. if we are building a strong team we need to keep these strong players, lets hope for a positive game tomorrow with these new additions.Redditchbluenose86 wrote:fingers wrote:3 from Smith Joe, one from Quaynor and one from Green.

Re: More Players Sign
If both new lads are fit and ready to start and Matt Smith is still about (pretty sure he is) then I can't see Adaggio starting, I've always thought Marco is a talented player but he doesn't score many- never has. His workrate in other sides has been essential to their success, when that doesn't come he tends to hide, hence he was loaned out from Worcester last season.
