Summer ins and outs.
Just thought I'd create a thread to help keep track of who has signed on for next season, who has left and what new arrivals we have. Any news on the squad so far?

Re: Summer ins and outs.
I would imagine that only Asa Charlton is in situ and I don't think you can officially sign players until after the AGM, Fingers will know.
It would be interesting who signs, I would imagine though that a number of players from last season will more than likely be snapped up by better sides for next season IMO (eg Grimes, Hickman, Hendrie).

Leethall...what do you consider 'a better side'...one who offers more money?

Bob, no. A club that plays at a better level (eg BSN) or is a successful club (eg Brackley) or a club that finished higher in the league (eg Stourbridge, Barwell, Leamongton). Of course there will be players who will move onto earn some extra pennies at other clubs

Oh, OK.
Question: Were the Reds a better side in the BSN when we had players we could not afford and were not paying for services around the club?

Depends which side you are on about?

Yes - I'm not saying we should take that road, but they were a better side, and other than the latter stages of the Rod Brown era, you could argue they were better value for that money than the Reds team were towards the latter stages of the season just passed, pound for pound.

I'm not sure on the date, think it may be late June/early July, but you can't register players before a certain date, which is obviously after the various AGM's are done and dusted, otherwise how would clubs who may be laterally moved or reprieved from relegation know which body to register their players with.
The exception of course is any player who is contracted beyond the end of last season - Coleman, Hickman and Robinson were only contracted until the end of the season as far as I'm aware, unless any extensions were offered.
I don't know if you can extend a contract in the period before standard registration starts - logic would make me think you can to protect your assets, but since when did logic come into the beautiful game?

I would say the side that finished 9th in the conference north was certainly a better side than the one at present (not that I have seen anything of this present side really!!) just look at the thread on people favourite players (mainly of recent times) and you'll see a number of them players listed. Not really sure with the side that struggled thereafter, like I say, having only seen 1 Redditch game in the past 4 seasons!!!
If the question was;
Was the club in a better, more stable position in the BSN?
The answer would quite possibly be no!!!!

Inaccurate and irrelevant.
How much players would have been on while at the club at different times does not equate to the budget being set at that level if you put them together.
We all have an idea of what the budget was at different times - some of us (including you and I, Bob) have an idea of what it was last season and what it will be next season - my point was that I feel RUFC got better value, pound for pound, from previous squads. I didn't comment as to whether RUFC could afford it.

^ This. Pound for pound the squad paid last year was poor IMO.

Not sure how inaccurate the post was but agree, irrelevant.
I was trying to point out that the Reds are still not at their natural level....to compete in this league the club needs to generate north of 220k and it does not do that.
Therefore, how do you think we will get a pound for pound better side when the club is now living within it's means?
This is the only reason Hydey left...let us not forget that..

how can you possibly even ball park guess close enough to those 11 sets of wages to even attempt to give your post any foundation?
