Hitchin 3 - 0 Redditch
keeper is worse than deano
defense is slower than tesfa
midfield cant pass as good as moses garvey
forwards are weaker than munch
So much for a stronger team than last year

Re: Hitchin 3 - 0 Redditch
It was a dis-appointing performance from Redditch. We are a team in transition and it showed. Sloppy marking from the free kick for their first goal. Very slow to react to the second goal which was a tame shot 3 minutes into the second half.
Only 1 shot on target in the second half. No real potency in attack, midfield always on the back foot, defense at sixes and sevens, keeper very quiet, communication to his defense virtually non-existant
I know it only 1 game but we will have to improve and quickly if we are to avoid a repetition of last season.

What was the team? The first team squad is not even listed on the official website.
I read tht the keeper has cost us another goal, liability....

I'm hoping this is a big wakeup call to the lads. We're no better than the squad last year.
Slack marking from a free kick shouldn't be happening, the keeper cocked up (again) makes me wonder if the management team can see how bad he actually is? Instills no confidence at all.. but, like i said, the pre-season campaign wasn't great.
Onwards and Upwards and all that..

United’s Southern League campaign got off to a disappointing start with an opening day defeat at Hitchin Town.
Dean Gilbert gave the hosts a half-time lead before Kyle Lincoln pounced on a goalkeeping error for the second with Luke Gregson rounding the scoring off in the final minute.
The opening exchanges were even but it was Redditch who could have given their vocal visiting support something to cheer, twice going close before Hitchin’s opener through new signing Charisma Agbonlahor who struck the post and then saw another shot tipped over the crossbar.
Gilbert’s goal knocked the Reds’ confidence and gave Simon Redhead’s men a mountain to climb after the break, a challenge that they failed to respond to.
Just three minutes after the restart, left-back Kyle Lincoln ran through a static United defence and then punished some hesitant keeping from Niall Cooper, placing his tame shot between the legs of the Redditch custodian.
The visitors lacked cohesion going forward, and in truth, never looked like getting back into the match as Hitchin defended comfortably.
With the Reds trying to force their way back into the game, Luke Gregson added the third on the break. The midfielder was allowed far too much space and although Cooper parried his initial shot, Gregson reacted first to tuck away the rebound.
Reds: Cooper 5, Midworth 6, Quaynor 5, Clarke 6, Charlton 5, McDonald 5, Price 5 (Richards 67, 5), Deards 6, Danks 6 (Bridgwater 83), AGBONLAHOR 7* (Wilding 73), Cresswell 6. Subs (not used): Stringfellow, Cantlow.
