Unfortunately Smudger I fly out to India on Business on the 6th so will not be able to make it.
Good luck and hope you manage to turn around Studley's fortunes. I managed to see your Earlswood team beat Sporting last season and deservedly so.
Re: Paul Smith
Paul Smith took Pilkington XXX to there highest ever league position, he also did the same with Earlswood Town. He did a massive job at Alvechurch which they can't seem to match with the power of BCFC Community backing them.
He took Redditch to their highest ever league position under the Ducklings but found himself out on his ear after a dozen or so games, three seasons on and things have only got worse despite bucket loads of cash being thrown at Hyde etc.
Steve was writing a case for Kieth Draper a few months ago, he managed a poor mid-table position with Sporting and now finds himself at Earlswood next season, i have a feeling Studley will fair the better.
Can't help thinking in a few years Paul Smith would be welcomed by the Redditch Faithful but only time will tell.

Re: Paul Smith
I don't know how the Reds have made an offer? You need cash to buy stuff, no?
However, it would make good business sense for the council to sell The Valley & buy Studley for a well negotiated price.
Not sure on parking, ground grading etc...but it is a really good location.
It will be interesting to see if anything develops.

Why do you say that Del?
Plug & play facility...income from all-weather pitches already in place...ready made tenant...good location...seems a great fit for me (with some ground development).

Re: Paul Smith
Steve everything you say is very relevant and a great case can be made for this plan! However it's Studley, in Warwickshire, where you have to decide what your buying your older brother for Father's Day and you need 6 fingers and 7 toes to get through the gate! These small considerations apart it could be a good move!!

1) It's not in Redditch.... a small technicality perhaps?
2) It's not in Redditch....so we'll lose the support of RBC who appear to be pro-Reds. That's not a technicality, that's a fact. Would Stratford Council support the club!?
3) The nearby nimby's, who WILL get there own way, and will be supported by Stratford Council.
4) The ground is absolutely nowhere near up to the required standard, with little hope of improvement (see above).
5) Parking is severely limited unless we are happy to have -100 attendances.
5) No real, convenient public transport.
6) A successful stadium needs life around it, not sheep in fields.
Yes, it has it's plus points. But to take advantage of them would be to do so in the short term only. It's fine if we want to sink down the pyramid and play at Studleys level of football. Is that what we want? It's not a location for a club that should have aspirations for competing at a higher level.

Re: Paul Smith
Yes it is in Warwickshire and rules it out for that point. I don't want you inbred Redditch folk coming to my manner!!!!!
Re: Paul Smith
Hey, that's not very nice!!! I think it's actually your manor that you don't want us in reds on! A small point I know but korekt spelling is very important to us redditch intellectuals. I think I can say with some degree of confidence that this move will not happen as the club have now invested in a tin of Matt black paint and have painted the wall in front if the main stand, both sides!! Now I ask you, your not gonna be investing that kind of dough on your ground if your thinking of moving, are you??
