Favourite reds player

With no game to talk about and trying to avoid coursework thought could start a thread to see who are peoples favorite Redditch player of all time and their current favourite player this season.


All time: Danny Lewis - Only supported Reds for just over 5 years so limited in choices. Knew he was quality at the time but only realised how good he was when we got 'Shaky' Jake Meridith to replace him the following season. Certainly wouldn't have stayed in the BSN for as long as we did without him!

Current: Has to be Default choice. Hopefully he will be back soon.

My all time: Richard Anstiss

My current: Tommy Warmer

All Time: Danny Lewis

Current: Nobody I particular as there is nobody deserving of being given that title as no player has shone whatsoever.

He is not a stand out player, only in respect of effort! Blimey if people think is a stand out player your knowledge of football is poor

At last a fellow fan who understands football and that we don't have 1 single player who stands out

Not suggesting Tommy is anything of the quality we used to have, hell I can think of loads of players we used to have with more footballing talent, but when he plays we seem to get better results. Would be interesting to see some stats on win percentages for with him and without him. Haven't been able to watch enough games to make a clear argument on this but from what I've seen we play better with him in the side.

It's a poll about your favourite player..not one that stands out and will be the next Pele! Mine is Joey as he's box to box and gives 100% and hates losing. He'll never be a world beater but he gives everything for the club and that's why he's my favourite.

I don't have one as I stated as there isn't 1 player who I think deserves to be picked as they have not stood out.

Unfortunately it is difficult to pick a player when half of them are here on loan.......

my favorite over last 5 years orso that i've been going down is ryan beswick, i thought he was quality. my fav at the mo would be dean coleman he's been consistent

In the short time that I have been watching the reds, i would say my favourite player would be Lucan Spittle.

An interesting theme is developing in this thread. You can see that the people who are relatively recent Reds watchers (& tend to be the most optimistic and least critical on the forum) have named a current player whereas those of us who have been going for some years have declined because we can compare the current players with the ones we had in the past and realize that the standard we are currntly watching is nowhere near that of 5+ years ago.

By the way this not meant to be critical of anyone, just an observation.

From the past: Steve Ferguson,mark whitehouse,michael campbell,steve george,floyd peltier,loads seemed good back then
middle: rob smith,danks,whitto,farrel
more recent: gary knight,anstiss,sylla,sean flynn,taylor,myers,X,danny l.
this year havent seen enough to have a favourite although tesfa stood out for me at the start as a reasonably good player.

Probably just Mick Tuohy for me just shading it from Billy Pace & Richard Anstiss

No different than other teams at this level. Before Forde our best line up contained only one player on loan in Jake Jones ( goes back 4th Feb). Teams have been down here regular this season with two loaneees.

Picked him up as a lad and helped push him thro Kiddys doors due to his obvious talent. 1 of the nicest people you could wish to meet in or out of football too. Was proud to play for Redditch too.

I agree, he's a top lad who goes out his way to say hello to everyone. Used to have a kick about with him as a kid and can tell you he's a decent outfielder too

I think he means Danny's first spell at kiddy. Agree top bloke,and a role model for all future redditch kids to follow
