Captain Carlin wrote:JBS wrote:Moving to near the Abbey Stadium site would certanly be much better in my opinion to moving to Washford. There was also a proposal last year (as part of the 10,000 new home's plan) to resite the Train Station to next to the Abbey Stadium and have a park and ride into the town centre, which would be nice if we were to move!
..............resite the Train Station to next to the Abbey Stadium .............definately not in any (realistic) plan at present
It was in one of the consultation docs on planning strategy last year relating to one of the proposed new Estates being by the Abbey. Obviously not likely to happen but it was one of the ideas put forward, especially with our qouta being cut.
Was obviously heavily relient on network rail funding as well iirc.

I favour the right move! I just don't think there's a suitable option on the table ATM.
Re: The Valley Stadium
Re ground move...I'd urge any one to take a tour of our ' facilities' the 'gym' , changing rooms, kit room, referees changing room, go round the back of the main stand.....it might just open your eyes....and believe me they are in a better state than before...

Finally and most importantly, any development there would surely involve building a new stadium around an athletics track! NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!!!! NEVER!!!!
Never a Running Track! EVER!

I was thinking of doing a Man Citeh and f**king the running track off
I mean, who's bothered about a load of skinny people running round in circles anyway

Re: The Valley Stadium
Porrohman, i understand what you're saying, but i think what most people are agreeing with is all it needs is a tidy up.
Completely rebuild the main stand, refurb the gym and the other facilities and it'll look fine,
The bar is probably the first thing i'd renovate... make it have disabled access, new floor etc
I leant on the window and the whole wall nearly fell through!

The next strong gust of wind should solve that one, but yeah, i might push that up to the first thing that needs to go
Re: The Valley Stadium
I've made my opinion very clear on this issue, and yes i think you are definatley in a minority here.Totally understand your point about the state of the ground, but there is nothing that cannot be put right with alot of hard work, and a few quid.Until we outgrow the valley,ie football league NO MOVE.porrohman wrote:Am I the ONLY one who favours a move!!!

Re: The Valley Stadium
The only thing stopping me from being FOR the new stadium, is the proposed location (Washford Park). Otherwise I'd already be tooled up with my shovel, digging the foundations as we speak!
Re: The Valley Stadium
I'm against the move. Stay at the valley. Cedar Road is our home.
