Reds 4 Bromsgrove Sporting 1
Typical pre season friendly, no real pattern to the first half, we struggled at times. Second half much better, some lovely football and quality goals.
Plus points: Good football second half, Joe Adams great goal and performance, good teamwork and passing for other goals, Fitter in the middle of the park. Roger not standing in the Cedar. Few old faces back, packed bar after the game.
Minus Points: Hydey on his own in the technical area,...what is going on there? Three is a crowd.Weak opposition..no threat at all.

I thought Joe Adams looked quality at times and that is not including his goal. He was creating chances in and around the box. Spoke to some people who think he might be good enough for the Football League in few years. Hope we sign him up!

Re: Reds 4 Bromsgrove Sporting 1
Joe Adams is a quality player and I think he has been on trial with Kiddy. I reckon we sign him up personally as he will do well. Still have not made a game and won't until the Nuneaton or Loughborough game on the Tuesday

Re: Reds 4 Bromsgrove Sporting 1
Don't know if there were any team sheets but these are the ones I know ( I think)not in number order
1 Coleman- Had nothing to do all game
2. Heath? Looked good going forward
3. No idea...no interest in left backs...
4. Hickman- Solid
5. Some 8 ft tall biffer about 2 stone overweight, slow and cumbersome.
6
7. Simon Fitter - great ball for one of the goals, looked the business in the middle, although Stevie Wonder could have ran the show in the middle on Saturday they were so poor.
8
9 Blenkinsop- Good movement up top, lively.
10 Joe Harris- Has lost about 15 stone, played well, good target man. In the Matt Smith mould
11 Cameron Jones? Looked good lively.
To honest I spent most of the game talking to Dickie Hinckley about VW camper vans...

Agreed. Adams looked quality. Good touch and vision, and a well taken goal. I hope that we sign him asap.

Re: Reds 4 Bromsgrove Sporting 1
I'm hearing from one of my mates who plays for Bromsgrove that a load of their fans boycotted saturday's game to make sure we didn't receive as much money. What a stupid thing to do if so, why not just along to support your team rather than worry about boosting our finances!

Re: Reds 4 Bromsgrove Sporting 1
You are right, Lewis.
If you look at their boards/forums etc there is no mention of the game...they took the decision when the game was announced which is quite immature and stupid!
I do not know how many Sporting fans were in the 310 but I assume not many?
I had some sympathy with those guys....now they can go forth and multiply.

Re: Reds 4 Bromsgrove Sporting 1
I saw a few Bromsgrove fans knocking about and there was a bit of a cheer when they scored but my mate was saying there could of brought at least another hundred more fans but like you said they chose not to promote the game at all and boycott it. Pathetic!

Re: Reds 4 Bromsgrove Sporting 1
There was a decent amount of sporting that came.
Those that did come got a goal for each pound spent on entry, but sadly for them four of them were ours.

I thought being a fan was about the team?
They have said there was no such boycott....but zero mention of the match on their official website or their forum?
Very strange.
I hope they finish below Fairfield this season

Re: Reds 4 Bromsgrove Sporting 1
I can’t see why there would be one; there has been no ‘bad blood’ between us for a while. Yes there have been incidents in the past, but they were all years ago. Personally, I’d like to see Bromsgrove do well and climb the pyramid quickly, so we are both at the same level (but with us at the top of the table and them at the bottom ! ). Our record againt them in the old Southern Western was superb, something like 9 wins and 1 draw with a few spankings thrown in for good measure
I thought it was a great crowd for a friendly. If we get the same kind of crowds in the league , that could get the team a fair increase in the playing budget.
Does anyone know if beers will be allowed outside the clubhouse during the season? Just before we got promoted from the Southern League, it used to happen, but then stopped when we got into the Conference North. It was nice having a beer outside, watching the game on a nice sunny day! It will be good for bar sales too.

I have no doubt that Fairfield will finish above Bromsgrove this season.
They think they are bigger than they actually are and just about sums up there attitude to other clubs in thinking so
Re: Reds 4 Bromsgrove Sporting 1
Oaksy has lost 2 or 3 players to Sporting, so not so sure.
There is plenty on their forum about a recent friendly with Earlswood and zero about the game on Saturday?

Re: Reds 4 Bromsgrove Sporting 1
Who cares about Bromsgrove? They helped us with another pre-season thrashing
The people that boycotted it clearly knew we would smash them and didn't show up to save embarassment!
I think we're serving beer in plastics now so you can enjoy a beer and watch the game

Re: Reds 4 Bromsgrove Sporting 1
If it was a boycott to stop us earning money then it failed as we had over 400 which compared to last seasons average of 250 is fantastic, if it was a boycott they have only let there team down and not our club.
With regards to alcohol outside during games we will not be doing this, we will be doing promotions on beer before the game and plastics will be allowed outside after the game and for other events.

Re: Reds 4 Bromsgrove Sporting 1
To be fair I said we won't be not didn't, having gained advice from the FA and our Security we won't be doing this for the foreseeable future. We will however be doing a £2.50 a pint between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on Saturday and we'll see how that goes, we are just trying various ideas and seeing what works and what doesn't.porrohman wrote:There were loads of people drinking during the game from plastic glasses?
